Dr. Agus Wahyudi earned his Ph.D. from Northern Arizona University (2009–2018) and holds master’s degrees from the University of Amsterdam and Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), complemented by additional studies at the Australian National University. His distinguished academic journey has been supported by some of the world’s most prestigious scholarships, including AusAid, StuNed, and Fulbright. Throughout his career, Dr. Wahyudi has held several key leadership positions, most notably serving as the Director of the Center for Pancasila Studies at UGM and various influential departmental roles.

Course: Religion and Polarization

Dr. Sofjan is a prominent and versatile Indonesian scholar, intellectual-activist and social entrepreneur. His books and articles have been published in the areas of religion and politics, Islam and Shiism, spirituality and sustainability. He has extensively worked with the Government of Indonesia and other foreign governments and a whole host of universities, NGOs/CSOs, development agencies and philanthropic organizations across Indonesia and the world. Dr. Sofjan’s vast international network and collaboration has earned him grants and collaboration from the Ford, Templeton, Henry Luce, Nippon Foundations, Partnership for Religion and Sustainable Development (PaRD), Greenpeace, Carnegie Council, European Union, US State Department, The Nature Conservancy, UNDP, UNESCO, KAICIID, MCC, Focolare and other international organizations and development agencies. He was appointed as a Visiting Professor/Fellow in Japan, Malaysia, Bulgaria, Italy and Iran, and has visited and taught in a number of universities in the US, including the US Foreign Service Institute (FSI) in Virginia.

Dr. Epafras is a skilled and dynamic faculty member, researcher, & training instructor at the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Graduate School, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. He is the awardee of many awards and scholarships, among others, the United Board, Fulbright, Endeavour, Henry Luce Foundation, Schusterman Center for Israel Studies, Sadra Institute, and others. He teaches the History of Religions, Religious Studies, Advanced Study of Christianity, Judaism, English for Theology, Intercultural Approach of Peace Studies, and Theology of Hospitality. His research topics include Religion Online, Religion and Popular Culture, Jews of Indonesia, Youth Studies, and Interreligious Studies

Dr. Bagir is an Indonesian scholar specializing in religion, science, and ecology at the IRS UGM. He earned a Ph.D. in History and Philosophy of Science, from Indiana University, Bloomington. He completed an M.A. at the International Institute of Islamic Thought and Civilization, Malaysia. His research focuses on religious diversity, freedom of belief, and the role of religion in science, democracy and ecology. Beyond academic work, Dr. Bagir has been active in working with civil-society practitioners. He has coordinated the Freedom of Religion or Belief Fellowship for university lecturers annually since 2019. He has been also involved in collective advocacy to revoke or revise the Indonesian blasphemy law and articles related to religion in the new Indonesian Criminal Code.

Prof. Wijsen is Professor Emeritus at Radboud University and currently teaches at the Inter-Religious Studies (IRS), Universitas Gadjah Mada. His academic work focuses on policy and management issues at the intersection of religion and society. His current research interests include religious environmentalism, representations of human–nature interaction, and “green” or “blue” religion and theology in the Netherlands and Indonesia. His work employs Dialogical Self Theory as a research perspective and Critical Discourse Analysis as a primary methodological approach.

Dr. Quinlan serves as an International Visiting Lecturer at Universitas Gadjah Mada and an Affiliate Clinical Professor of Religion at Baylor University. He holds a Ph.D. in Inter-Religious Studies from UGM, alongside an M.Div. and B.A. from Baylor University. Drawing on extensive experience in Indonesia, Dr. Quinlan’s research explores the intersections of migration, interfaith relations, and polarization. An active scholar and international presenter, his work includes bridging academic theology with community initiatives that foster religious literacy, dialogue, and foundational theological education across diverse contexts.

Dr. Asri is a lecturer at the IRS UGM. He earned his Ph.D. in Inter-Religious Studies from the IRS UGM. His academic background spans international relations and Islamic thought. He is actively engaged in interfaith dialogue and youth initiatives, and has presented in numerous international conferences. His research focuses on religious freedom, spiritual hermeneutics, and contemporary socio-religious dynamics in Indonesia and beyond. He has published widely in academic journals on interfaith relations, religious freedom, digital religion, and socio-religious issues, contributing to both national and international scholarly discussions.
